independent full services Film production companyItasca Films is an independent full services Film production company, part of the Itasca Media Group Ltd, started in 2001 by Malcolm Walker. His vision was to be able to produce films of the highest standards with a group of like-minded individuals who themselves were ambitious dedicated filmmakers. By working together, using all their collective skills they are able to cover all aspects of film making in house.

The Itasca Group includes Itasca Locations, Europe’s biggest location library and Itasca Creative, who not only develop websites but can also help with publicity and advertising and public relations. This, along with Extra-People Ltd, our own extras and supporting artists agency gives Itasca Films an advantage when it comes to making its own films.

In addition to undertaking the tasks associated with any independent full services Film production company, i.e. making feature films, programs for TV, music and corporate videos and commercials,  we also offer a number of business, production and post production services to other film makers. These include

  • Services to help to prepare and raise film funding, EIS and SEIS applications to HMRC and preparation of Investor Information Memorandums. Itasca Films have spent many hours unraveling the mysterious world of Investment, Tax Relief and EIS & SEIS. Itasca Films is now sharing their and experience with other filmmakers in their own language, terms and contexts.
  • Itasca films can uniquely arrange for Film Bond Insurance under £1Mn, thereby facilitating smaller films to cash flow their Film Tax Relief as banks require Film Bond Insurance which normally only starts at £1Mn.

Malcolm Walker

Producer/Director and CEO

 

Malcolm Walker started his career in the British film industry over 35 years ago. Throughout his long and varied career Malcolm has worked on some of the biggest movies filmed in Britain, including The Eagle has Landed; The Shining; Star Wars; Alien; The Elephant Man and many others.

Malcolm was one of the UK’s top Location Managers for many years before moving onto directing. As a director he directed drama for both the BBC and ITV and pop videos and commercials.

After many years directing the next natural step was producing. Having now produced both mainstream pop videos and commercials, and having line produced a number of feature films, Malcolm has just finished producing his first feature film ‘Death’ and is now producing a slate of films with Itasca Films.

In 2001 he decided to go back to his passion of feature films and started Itasca Films. As CEO and producer Malcolm is the driving force of Itasca Films.

Jeremy Azis

Producer/Director

 

For over 20 years Producer Jeremy Azis has been wrangling cabbages and cows on the Eurythmics’ Sweet Dreams video in 1985, to making cinema commercials for Duke of Endinburgh Awards, to production of he biggest selling music DVDs of 2012 and the top-selling concert film of the past decade.

Through live ‘live;’ major event broadcasting , network TV series, retailers DVD, TV and cinemas commercials, dram-documentary and live streaming media distribution Jeremy’s work has been seen by a global audience of more than 400 million.

With more than 350 projects under his belt, Jeremy has been involved with budgets totaling over £20 million while the results of his work have generated more than £125 million in worldwide sales and advertising revenue.

In a career spanning three decades Jeremy has gained unique insights and experience of the vital processes involved in multimedia creativity and it’s manifestation. He recently completed filming the Dubai World Cup opening ceremony, shown in over 50 countries, followed by a 27 camera shoot of Jennifer Lopez in concert, as well as Aerosmith in concert.

Jeremy joined Itasca films in 2013 to indulge his passion for feature films. As a producer/director, Jeremy is a major contribution to the forces driving Itasca Films.

David Higginson

Producer / Line Producer

 

Over the last 15 years, David Higginson has made over 25 features and TV dramas in 14 countries across 3 continents. Budgets have ranged from micro to $25 million for companies as diverse as the BBC and MARV films.

Starting as a publicist at the BFI, David quickly moved into independent film Production working his way up through Location Manager, UPM, Post Production Supervisor and Line-Producer.

Recent credits include Line-Producing double Oscar winner Sir Michael Caine in “Harry Brown” for MARV films. Opening at Number 3 at the UK box office, the picture won the Empire Best British Film award as well as official selection at the Toronto and South by Southwest Film Festivals.

Completion Bond recognized and a Production Guild of Great Britain member, David Produced the Utah TIFF Festival Best Film “Life-Line” and is now a resident producer at Itasca Films, working on both “Dancing on Dirt” and “Seeds for Sid”. He also continues to Co-Produce projects through his Eastern European company, Buzz Films.

Tom Hines

Director of Photography (DOP)

 

Tom has been interested in films from a very young age, shooting short films from the age of 12. He continued his interest academically studying film and television at Bournemouth University. Whilst there, he was the only selected student to create and shoot a commercial which aired nationally in Britain and was shown as part of a collection at New Yorks MoMa.

After graduating with a degree, he began working his way up to Director of Photography through various features, dramas, commercials, music videos and documentaries.

Having filmed in a range of exotic locations such as the Dominican Republic to IDP camps of Chad. He recently worked on a feature film in Palestine starring Ali Suliman (Paradise Now, Body of Lies, The Kingdom) where he got shot!

The variety of Tom’s work helps him to adapt to the changing landscapes throughout the world of Cinematography.

Terry Iland

Director, Producer & Writer

 

Terry Iland is a Director, producer, and writer with more than twenty years experience in the entertainment industry.

He has directed award winning commercials and pop promos in the UK, Europe, and the Far East, and over two hundred hours of drama including Heartbeat, Casualty, Down to Earth, The Bill, EastEnders, Dream Team and more.

His producer credits include long running drama series River City (BBC Scotland), and Dream Team (Sky One).

A former actor, singer and dancer, he trained at the Drama Centre London alongside such luminaries as Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, and Adrian Noble. He worked at the Royal Court, Kings Head, and spent seasons at regional theatres such as Newcastle Playhouse, Duke’s Lancaster, Lyric Belfast, etc.. He was a series regular in The Ballyskillen Opera House on ITV.

Martin Gooch

Director, Producer & Writer

 

Martin is a BBC trained Director. He directed the BAFTA winning and EMMY nominated Spooks interactive (BBC/Kudos) and was a two time BBC Director of the year winner. Coming up through the ranks of the camera department Martin worked on 13 feature films and more than 200 TV shows from Harry Potter to the Muppets and Robot Wars to Eastenders.

He had directed Doctors and Hollyoaks for TV as well as more than 20 short films, pop promos and virals. His debut feature film as a Director – a mystery entitled DEATH will be released in 2012.

Martin has a Masters in Screenwriting from LCC, and his last screen play DEATHTRAP DUNGEON, an adaptation of the multi million selling Fighting Fantasy gamebook, has been optioned by Hollywood.

John Wilkins

Marketing Director

 

John is our marketing director and now heading up our new distribution and sales agency side of Itasca Films, John has been in and around the entertainment industry for over 25 years, starting as a Bluecoat Entertainer at Pontins Holiday camps, John is our frustrated actor, but our genius marketing director.

Following Pontins John was appointed Entertainment Manager for SOL Holidays on the Costa Del Sol, where he became an expert in all things Spanish, including wines from Rioja!

Over the years John has worked in marketing and advertising for such iconic companies as, The Birmingham Royal Ballet, The Royal Shakespeare Company, The Symphony Hall, NEC, and many of the UK’s leading theatre companies, and several of the UK’s premier football clubs, and the last 9 years in Film and Television.

John continues to act as a sales & marketing consultant to several companies, establishing those companies into a brand.

Vivek Agrawal

Producer

 

Vivek Agrawal has been associated with the Indian Film Industry for over fifteen years in various capacities; Production Assistant, Production Manager, Line Producer, Executive Producer, Assistant Cameraman, 1st AD, Associate Director, Casting Director, Visual Effects Director, Post Production Supervisor, Producer and Director.

He started his career in 1994 with Flicks Motion Picture Company. Over the next three years he worked on over 200 commercials in various capacities in production and direction. During this period he worked on a few music videos and a 90 minute docu-drama ‘Mamuliram,’ as a 2nd AD under Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra (Aks, Rang De Basanti, Delhi-6).

In 2008-09 he produced the English feature on honour killing called ‘Land Gold Women,’ shot in England with a British cast and crew. The film was executed on a tight budget of USD 1 Million and shot over 4 weeks (24 days).

Vivek is now writing and developing the script, ‘Game Over’ to be produced in 2012 as a co production between his company A Richer Lens and Itasca Films and to be shot in London.

Mike Wood

Producer, Itasca Television

 

Mike Wood has been in the TV film and media industry for over 15 years, having worked for many of the biggest broadcasters and producers in the business, both public and independent, including the BBC, Channel 4 and Film 4, ITV, Sky, News International and, UKTV to name a few.

In his varied career Mike has gained hands on experience across all aspects of film, TV and cross media production, with experience producing short form corporate and music video productions to full scale feature films for both theatrical and broadcast release. A BBC trained lighting camera man and Apple Accredited editor, Mike has practical, in depth knowledge of media production most Producers don’t have, which he uses successfully in his passion for film and TV. Mike is the Head of TV (Development) for Itasca Films.
